The Seventh Season is a hard rock band based in Pasadena, CA. Since its inception in 2003, The Seventh Season has played over two hundred live shows, and has released three full-lenth albums: Fall Within (2003), Transposition (2006) and Liquid Water (2007). Following a 2011-2015 hiatus, the band has returned to playing live, and is now recording two new studio albums.

Back to Old Towne Pub

We are going back to rock the Old Towne Pub on Friday March 17th. What's that, Steve? Yes it is St. Patrick's day. Get your Irish swag and green beer ready.

It's mid-Jan already, and I haven't posted in a while. There is a good reason. Been laying down tracks instead.

2016 was undeniably a crazy year. Some of the best memories for me (KB) were made right here, making music with Chris S., Eric P., Chris R. & Peter B. Onward to 2017...

New Stuff

It's been a fun month. We've been working on a bunch of new material (some written by me, some by Chris S.) as well as Hendrix // Doors covers. Peter Buhler also stopped by to fill in for Chris R. last week - was great to jam with him. Next show probably in early February. Probably in Pasadena.

The past few weeks have been filled with travel, work, and other noise. It sure is good to get back to jamming. It's not entirely clear what changes we might make to the setlist for the next show, but among other things we thought about adding "Stacy's Mom" to the arsenal.

T < 1 week

We are less than a week away from the October 19th show at the Old Towne Pub. Totally stoked! Been practicing too much.

Cecilia Sanders took over bass duties for a short performance at Caltech last Saturday night. Fun times!

During practice last night, we dug a little deeper into our setlist for the October 19th gig, and decided that about half-way through the set we need to introduce an acoustic song. We all love that idea, and I think musically this song will work great in that specific portion of the show. At the same time, pretty much anyone with touring experience will tell you that 50% of the time, mid-set instrument changes result in technical disaster, unless you have a crew of roadies to back you up... So fingers crossed.

About a week ago, the audio interface in my home studio suffered a 2-inch fall. I really didn't think much of it... But last night, while listening to backing vocal tacks in solo mode, I noticed some coherent-ish noise in the background. I plugged in the condenser mic and turned up the gain on the pre-amp to discover a remarkable combination of two over-layed AM radio stations. Who knew that a combination of conservative talk show and mariachi music could result in such a staggering addition to our sound! :-)

Looks like there is quite a bit of re-recording to do...

Last week, we couldn't decide on how to arrange a new song. So over the weekend, I spent some time screwing around in the studio trying to find the right feel for this thing. Then it spontaneously fell together. Excited, I sent the guys a screenshot of the recording, but forgot to attach the mp3. Felt pretty silly about it at first, but in retrospect, I don't see what's so hard about reconstructing the song from the waveforms....
